Guess Who's Published in the October Issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine!
Yes!!!
I am so happy to share that a piece written by yours truly is on page 201 of the October issue of Good Housekeeping magazine!
My piece is called "Explaining Michael Jackson". It's about, as the subtitle says, how, "His talent wowed my sons. His appearance bewildered them."
This is the first time something I've written has been published in a national magazine and gosh, I didn't know whether to cry or jump up in down in the store when I opened it up and saw it there on the page!
I ended up doing both. I didn't even care that the security guard was totally giving me, "Is she stealing something over there?" look.
I let the Good Housekeeping folks choose which picture of me and my sons to use for this piece. How much do I love that they chose a picture taken right after I finished running the City of Angels half marathon! Sure, I'm a little sweaty but I love my sons, I love writing and I love running so it's a perfect combination.
Make sure you pick up a copy of the magazine (it's only $2.99) so you can read all of "Explaining Michael Jackson". Hope you enjoy the piece!

Oh gosh, a Pulitzer...I wish! I just want more than anything to finish my novel and get an agent and actually published novelist by my name. But in the meantime, I'm loving nonfiction writing a lot.

So very kind of you to say. I still have a hard time getting down everything I want to say so I have a lot to learn, too. I need less self-censorship.
