A Los Angelista Giveaway: The Wii & Wii Fit!

I've always wanted a personal trainer. You know, someone to tell me how my form is totally off while I'm doing pushups, someone to hold me accountable when I haven't worked out in two days, someone who cheers me on and rewards me when I'm rocking the house during a workout.

However, I don't want any of the trainers at my gym. I've done two trial runs with different trainers there and both were a bust. The first trainer (a guy) was getting a little too touchy feely. The second trainer was a woman but she seemed sort of distant and just talked about how she hoped she nailed her latest audition so she could stop being a trainer. Both were a little pushy and gave me a hard sell about rates once we were back in the dreaded gym office, so I made my escape, pronto.

Thankfully, just when I was totally despairing that I'd ever have a trainer that was nice, not trying to feel on my booty, totally focused on me and not costing an arm and a leg... the Wii Fit came into my life!

Yes, that's right, thanks to the Wii Fit, I have a trainer and I don't even have to leave my house! All I have to do is push a power button and there's "Orlando", (yup, I gave him a name) telling me my balance is a little shaky as I'm holding a yoga pose. I like working out with Orlando every day.

My relationship with Orlando began on a lovely November evening about three weeks ago when Nintendo held a Wii Fit party here at my house for me and 10 of my friends. The fabulous Nintendo crew served delicious food and drinks and showed me and my girls how to use the Wii Fit.

To get things started, we each took the Wii Fitness Test and found out our Wii Fit Age. You do this by standing on their balance board and doing various fitness tasks. I have no idea how it works, technology wise, but seriously, it figures everything out about your body. I found out that I'm physically a 42 year-old, so I need to improve my fitness in order to bring that down to my actual age. The Wii Fit also measures your weight and BMI. My BMI is normal but it's on a higher end of normal than I'd like, so the Wii Fit helped me set a goal for what I'd like my BMI to be.

After that, the next thing you know, I was working my way through the four Wii Fit categories: Yoga, Aerobics, Strength Training and Balance exercises! There are over 40 exercises to choose from but I don't get them all at once. I unlock new exercises by using the equipment, which is actually really motivating. So far, I love the skiing and snowboarding, even if I'm not that good at either. I can really feel both in my legs the next day though.

The other bane of my existence is the hula hooping! I warn you, I'm officially the World's Worst Hula Hooper! It's actually a little hard for me to swivel my hips fast enough to keep all my virtual hula hoops going around. But, the Wii breaks your exercising down into one or two minute intervals, and, before you know it, the time for that interval is over!

The best thing about the Wii Fit is that I'm exercising while having fun, and before I know it, 30 or 40 minutes have flown by. When I'm hula hooping, I'm not realizing I'm exercising, even though my waist and hips are getting a total workout. Instead I'm busy trying to beat the number of hip swivels I got in my last try. Competing against myself and trying to beat my last score really keeps me going.

I've never been a "gamer" girl or anything like that, but in the last three weeks I've found I love turning on the Wii Fit and getting my health stats checked out. Again, how cool is technology that there's something that does this?

At the end of the Wii party, Nintendo shocked my friends by giving everybody a Wii Fit, a Wii Yoga Mat and a goody bag with workout gear in it. Their mouths were hanging open with surprise and it was SO cute!

Because you all are so awesome, Nintendo is giving me a Wii gaming console and the Wii Fit to give away to one of you lucky readers!

Yes, you could win a Wii gaming console and the Wii Fit! Here's how to enter the Los Angelista Wii Fit Giveaway:

1) Leave a comment on this post between 12:00 AM PST on December 1, 2008 and 11:59 PM PST on December 28, 2008 stating your health and fitness goals for 2009 and how the Wii Fit will help you get there.
2) If you link back to the contest on your own blog and let me know you've done so, you'll get a second entry.
3) If you leave an anonymous comment or one that doesn't have a valid email attached to it, you'll get disqualified. (How am I supposed to tell who you are in case you win?)
4) You have to live in the United States to win.
5) Here's more rules you are agreeing to abide by if you leave an entry comment. Don't worry, it's just stuff I'm putting in there because I don't want to be sued by anybody who gets to thinking that just because they enter, they've automatically won. Apparently Wii's are one of the hottest things on folk's Christmas lists and I don't want any drama!

On December 28th, just when you're starting to regret all the Hannukah, Kwaanza and Christmas over-indulgence, I'll use a randomizer to pick one lucky winner. The winner will be announced on my birthday, December 29th!

I'm so excited to give one of you a Wii and a Wii Fit! Alright, now I'm going to get back to doing yoga with Orlando. Good luck!

Liz! I can't tell you how much my family and I need this! First of all, baby weight...ugh! Why can't I get it off? I would love to have a "family wii fit" to work some of that off, and get back to my old self. I look at all my pre-baby jeans in the closet, and it makes me sad. Secondly, I think this will be great for my family. We all love to spend time together, and this would be something wonderful for us to do! We could all stand to lose the lbs., and I can't even imagine how much fun my dad would have with this. Please consider a chunky mom and her needy family for your wii fit :)

Wow, you really are a fitness freak, Liz, you make me feel digustingly idle and unhealthy! If only more people took their health as seriously as you do, instead of turning into hefty couch potatoes. The obesity problem in Britain is reaching horrific levels.
Wow this is unbelievably fabulous!! What a great give away. I hope I win cause I really need that Wii and there is no way I can afford to buy one.

My goals for 2009 are to work out 3x/week for real. I was going to the Y all summer but can't swing it during the school year. I want to do something at home that is fun enough to keep me engaged. Got to lose 10 lbs. in 2009! If I don't win the Wii I am going to have to get back to walking every day and doing jump rope or Pilates 3x/wk.

The wii fit is pretty darned amazing. I'm on a very different level of training needs than you, but it's been great for my whole family. No, I'm not entering, but I WILL link here because I have some readers who a. I keep trying to get over to you anyway and b. could sure use this to help them with THEIR fitness goals! What a lovely idea!

I hate the hula hoop thing, too. And I keep getting conked in the head with sneakers and pandas in the soccer game, but I like it anyway.

Very cool Liz. My fitness goals are to lose ten pounds and more important....MAINTAIN it.

I also would like to make sure my kids stay active.

However, don't include me in the contest. I am sure there is a more deserving reader out there!!!

If you don't give me the wii I will fly out there and kick your ---!!!! If I don't win, my fitness goal will be to get strong enough to actually kick your ---!!! I believe this should be enough motivation for you to make sure I win!!!! Cause you know I'm CRAZY!!!
Now if threats don't work I could always resort to telling you how much I love you and I'm so glad your my sister, which is true.

On second thought I think I stick with threats because that worked when you were little!!!! Remember the pain??!!LOL

Liz, This is awesome. As always, you have a knack for sharing stuff with pizzazz. Do you realize that you actually make us want to go out and buy the wii fit??!! I am ready for one today, like right now. My goals for 2009 starting today -- more muscle tone, and flexibility. Weight loss is secondary to me. I want to feel more alive and healthy, so the wii fit will get my body moving and my muscles working... oh, I don't know if I can wait 'til the give-away. But, I am entering coz we all want one!! Woo hoo.

My fitness goals for the new year are to get fit. I had 3 children in diapers and car seats all at once. When I was keeping up with 4 little kids, I was very fit, and I didn't realize it. Now they're in high school and college and I have much more idle time. I sure can feel it when climbing lots of stairs. I can feel it when doing lots of things I used to do in a typical day.

I could stand to lose a few pounds, but mostly I would like to feel like I can do anything.

That's not a lofty goal, right?

I only have one thing to say ~
I think you should let Cyndee win...would sure hate to see you get that vaseline scraped right off your face!

Uhmm, my vote is for Cyndee...

Just sayin...

Long flight...air-rage...not a good combo :0p

In the past year and a half, I've lost 81 pounds (okay, 81.6 pounds!) through Weight Watchers. Losing weight is one thing, but keeping it off will be a new experience for me. Oh, how a FUN workout (sounds more like play to me--shall I call it a "playout?") would make a huge difference in my life and in the lives of my children.

Thanks for a fun contest!

To be honest, this would be for my dad. 2 years ago, out of the blue, he ended up in the hospital with diverticulitis, got a staph infection, and almost died. He went through major surgeries and at only 46 years old, his former fitness body was now scarred, with rolls from surgery, and never going to be the same. His stomach is now like a woman who had Csections, with scars and skin, where formally, he was flat. I know emotionally it bothers him.

My dad is healthy now and he goes to the gym 7 days a week and is determined to compete in body building in the spring. He also works 7 days a week, so you can imagine how little fun time he gets.

I have been looking for a wii fitness everywhere and unfortunately, I cant find a console, for Christmas. I would love to give this to him.

This year is his first year he is back where he was before he was in the hospital, and he has not let it get him down, and even going to compete against younger, and fitter, men.

I am SO SO proud of him. Rewarding him with something like this, where he could keep healthy, have fun, and share with his grandchildren (my daughter and niece) would be the ultimate christmas

Oh my goodness. I could definitely use one of these! Besides being a fabulous birthday present (mine is December 28th)let me tell you why I'd be so happy.

I am a stay at home mom and my family doesn't really have the finances right now to pay for a gym membership. I work from home part time but my work involves a lot sitting around and consequently I realized I've gotten out of shape. Eeek!

oops forgot to leave my goals.

- not getting winded walking up the 3 flights to my walk up.

- losing 10 pounds
- being toned!

Wow, that Cyndee gal is pretty fierce, and will probably win, but I'll make my play anyway. ;)

I'd like to win a Wii Fit because I need a Muffintopectomy.

I'd love to lose those "last *ahem* pounds" from having a kid and firm up that "loose skin" that never did quite go back to where it belonged.

Fun! Thanks for offering this!

I've lost 40 lbs in the last 6 months. My goal for 2009 is to lose an additional 50 lbs so I can be at a healthy weight for the first time in my adult life. If I had the Wii Fit, I think I would be encouraged to exercise regularly. I am driven when I have statistics to tell me how I'm doing and where I need to be, so I can see the Wii Fit motivating me that way. I would be able to work out at home without worrying about childcare. Also, I think it would encourage my children to exercise more if they were able to do it while having fun.

I love my Wii, but my workouts are old school, cardio, weights etc...I'm not doggin' the Wii Fit, but I can't get into it. If it helps people to get active then I'm all for it. Congrats on your new position as a schill for Nintendo (where can I get that job!!!)
My fitness plan for 2009 involves winning the Wii and Wii Fit from you, Liz, and then getting off my butt and trying to do something other than watch TV and surf the web. :)

Our 2nd baby is due in Feb., and I'm transitioning back to SAHD status (well, WAHD this time), and well, it's not like any of us took the time to exercise before, so it'll be even more of a challenge this time. I just want to be healthy, for my family, you know?

Jamila,
Ok, baby weight takes time! You're only stressed because you live in LA and you're surrounded with folks with eating disorders.

Nick,
I have to try so hard because I gain weight in a nanosecond if I don't exercise constantly. And, with all I do, I'm still not even close to being skinny. I'm just average sized which is ok with me!

Cloudscome,
I love jumping rope! I've never done pilates. I should try.

Jen,
I'm horrible at the sneaker/panda thing too! It gives me a headache!

1969,
Yup, maintaining it! I feel like I've gained/lost the same 10 pounds a million times.

Cyndee,
LOL! Bring it on! You know I have two accomplices who can help me take you down!

Gayatri,
Yes, more muscle tone! In '08 I wanted to be able to do a real pushup, not a girl pushup, and now I can! Maybe next year I'll be able to do 10?

That Girl,
Three kids in diapers and car seats at once??? Wowzer! I'm bowing down to you!

Amy,
LOL, I'm so happy they gave one to me to give to you all. I had no idea how popular they were till a couple of months ago.

House,
Well if Cyndee doesn't win and that means she has to come to LA to kick my butt, I'm all for that because I really want her to come visit. I miss her!

Nape,
Yes! Claim that last .6 pounds! 81.6 pounds is fabulous! Maybe I should go to Weight Watchers too! And yes, I need fun workouts because otherwise I get bored.

Hassiegirl,
Oh my goodness, your dad has been through it! I can't even imagine how heartwrenching the experience must be and how amazing that he works out 7 days a week now. He's an inspiration!

Miznyc,
Yeah, a fellow Capricorn! I hear you on the finances. We're feeling it here too, similar situation. I lucked out because I negotiated my gym rate like 10 years ago. $17/month to go to any Bally's in the USA. If not for that, I would never join one now. Too pricey.

Ian,
But you made a plan about painting! That counts for something!

Cynematic,
She is pretty fierce and she can run WAY faster than me too. Sigh! Goodness, you look like you're in fab shape... I'm with you on the extra skin. Will it ever go away without a tummy tuck?

Jessalyn,
Congrats on the 40 lbs! That's wonderful. I have no doubt you will rock out the next 50! Yes, being able to exercise at home without worrying about who's gonna watch the kids is a really nice thing.

David,
I hear you. Not sure if I could only work out with the Wii Fit... would I get the same results as I do by running and lifting weights? That's a good question. And, goodness, Nintendo threw me a party and wants to give my readers something, I'm all for it. If it sucked though, I'd say no, that's for sure.

Daddy,
LOL, Glad I can be part of your plans! Isn't it interesting how folks think parents who work from home have it totally easy? The reality is that all that sitting in front of a computer definitely takes a toll on your fitness.

Hi Liz,
Here are my 2009 fitness goals: I hope to stay active and fit for hiking, biking, and running and not lose my "fitness" over the winter when I don't really have any outdoor activities to keep me healthy. My goal is to maintain the same level of fitness year round as I do during the summer and fall. Plus I could use more flexibility and strength.
Thanks so much!

My husband is deploying in Jan and I'll be left alone with our two year old son. It's really hard to find time to work out which I LOVED to do before I became pregnant. I'd love to win this so I can become fit again, and bonus I'd never have to leave my house.

How awesome a giveaway is this?

My health and fitness goals for '09 are to: continue to exercise regularly for my own health and to set a good example for my family; to increase the amount of weight that I lift; to tone - especially my arms; and to eat less meat and more grains and vegetables.

The Fit would help me encourage my husband become less sedentary and to exercise with my daughter and I on a more regular basis.

My goal is to turn into this awesomelly drop-dead georgeous 35 year old...This Wii could really help in that process of "morphasis" that I plan on taking over my body; well, and competing with my son to see who has the best age over time. I have been wanting one of these for so long and would love to be awarded the winner of this great prize (not only for me, but for my husband and three kids).

Thanks so much, Barbara :)

Best way to say my fitness goal is to increase endurance and aerobics. Specifically, there is a particular trail in the Blue Ridge Parkway that kicked my butt this summer. I want to do it next summer without worrying about stroking out.

I know I will win because I have really good internet prize karma!
My fitness goals for next year (and most years)is to lose the 50 pounds that I've put on the last 10 years. I haven't done well motivating myself and need outside intervention. I work in retail and being on my feet every day at this weight is starting to take a toll on my knees and back. Because I work in retail, I can't afford a gym membership or a personal trainer. I would love to have a cyber one!

More and more since I've moved to Florida I've found myself skipping the gym. This must stop! However, a Wii fit would help me on those days when other things i.e. my books and pursuit of my master's degree are begging me to stay in the house. It would be so much simpler with my school schedule to not have to leave the house to go to the gym! I could study, Wii Fit, then cook a health dinner. That's my other health goal. To cook at home more. And of course that means more fruits and vegetables. I didn't get in the 5k I wanted to this year but 2009 is my year! I'll be used to my grad school schedule and ready to train to take on this race! I'd love to Wii Fit it up on the way to an even healthier me!

I have two one year olds that are getting increasingly more active. I'm overweight by about their combined weight - and I do not want to be the kind of mom that is too tired or unable to keep up with them as they get older. So I am starting now - not even at the beginning of the year. I would love to incorporate the Wii/Wii Fit into my fitness goal of becoming healthier by exercising more regularly (and what better way to exercise more regularly than by doing something FUN?!) -- right now my routine consists of pushing a 10 lb stroller filled with 10 lb of gear and 2 kids = 53 lbs, almost 75 lbs total, for 2 miles a day taking different routes to change it up.

Regardless of whether I win or not, thank you and Nintendo for sponsoring this awesome contest! :)

My goal is to get down to a more normal size. Living in the Chicago area makes it difficukt to get outside for exercise- wo this would be so perfect for those nasty winter days when I don't want to leave the house
Ok I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring. Since I lost my main source of income and have to cut everything out I need something inexpensive but challenging and interesting to do to kick up my routine. I have a goal of 75lbs to lose in 2009 and all the bad habits and emotionalism that brought it on so yes I'd love the wii. I'll still need to put together another plan in place.

My health & fitness goal for 2009 is to continue breathing.

If I don't win, maybe you could send Cyndee over here to, uh, motivate me.

Thanks!

Anne,
I hear you about not wanting to become unfit over the winter months. That's one thing about living in LA, I never have an excuse other than pure laziness if I get out of shape! Good luck to you.

Dumaurier,
Hope you don't mind if I say a prayer for your husband. Is it his first deployment? I feel for you and can't even imagine what you must be going through.

Nerd Girl,
Totally fab giveaway, right! I so understand you when you want your husband to not be sedentary. If a whole family is healthy/exercising then it's harder to get out of shape. Ever since my husband became a runner it's a lot easier to go to the park and eke out the miles because sometimes he's there too.

Barbarabaker,
LOL, I love your drop dead gorgeous goal! LOVE IT! I had that goal for 35. Not sure if I got there fully. I have a younger age than my husband and most of my friends which made me feel better about turning 36 in a couple of weeks! :)

Toohotforturtle,
Oh my goodness, I LOVE your blog name! LOL! I hear you about wanting to be able to get out and hike without passing out. Some of the trails around Mt. Hollywood are a little tougher for me. I'd like to not be huffing and puffing up them.

Toni,
Oh I feel you about being on your feet all day. That is no joke. You definitely could use a cyber trainer because you don't want to be wearing orthopedic shoes! Plus, when you take the weight off, that's less pressure on your knees/back when you're standing. Hope this ends up being the intervention you need!

Jon,
I don't know if you can wear it out! I'm sure they don't last for eons but maybe they're like an iPod where they're good for a few years of fun before they need replacing. And I got your other entry for linking! :)

Danielo,
Ok, so you were a vegan, went back to meat and now are gonna go back? What made you switch to meat again? I always think about making the leap to veganism but it always seems too complicated.

Jameil,
And then you can make a documentary about people who get back in shape with the Wii Fit! :) Grad school is hard though. So much going on and you're broke so you don't eat well. I was really thin in grad school because no $$ for food. :(

Christina,
Twins! You have your hands full. No wonder you need a way to work out at home. The stroller pushing sounds like quite a workout though. And how sweet are you to say thanks for sponsoring the contest! You're welcome! :)

Pestkaj,
I used to go out and run or walk down Sheridan Road in the winter because I read that shivering raises your metabolism. Yes, I really am that corny sometimes! That Hawk is brutal though when you're trying to work out outside and then when you want to drive to the gym, horrible traffic because of snow. Ugh, I don't miss all that.

Faith,
whew, everybody I know is getting impacted by this awful economy. Paid writing stuff... crickets, you know? Anyway, I know you can do it! Good luck!

The Girl Who Likes to Go, Go, Go,
I love everybody's comments! I've struggled to stay in shape pretty much my whole adult life so I really empathize with everyone else's struggles. Plus, you all are so interesting, how can I not reply!

KathyR,
LOL! He's named Orlando because I'm a huge Orlando Bloom fan. I imagine he's my personal trainer... shh, don't tell but I'm not sure I'd mind attempts to feel on my butt so much if Orlando Bloom was my trainer! And yes, Cyndee could motivate anybody. She works out twice a day with her crazy self! Running in the morning and then spin class at night! :)

Kailani,
I 100% feel you! If I'd worked out in my 20's like how I exercise now, goodness, I would've been SMOKIN'! But my metabolism has slowed a LOT. I totally notice it. I really think working out at home is so ideal. There's nothing you can't do with 3, 5 and 8 pound dumbbells and a few workout DVDS. And, the nice thing about the Wii is you get so many workouts other than just strength training. I really like that. Good luck!

So I'm completely sleep deprived and jet lagged and just plain mommy-crazed. I entered above and was logged into the wrong account so I deleted it (I write for 3 blogs!)! So sorry! Here is my official entry:

Before I got pregnant with my son, I ran a couple of miles several days a week. I felt like I was in my best shape/state of health right before I got pregnant with my son. My husband and I even backpacked Europe for 8 weeks. It's been 17 months and I sill have at least 10-12 pounds to lose. I don't have a lot of time to work out. I work part-time, I stay home with my son 5 days a week, and between everything else (laundry, dishes, life) working out gets put aside. The reality is that as I get older it gets harder and I would love to be in shape again. I'd love to lose my 10-12 pounds of baby weight. I'd love to do this at home so I don't have to put my son in child care. I'd love to get to the point where I have the endurance to run or backpack again!

I need to lose weight and I mean plenty. I love to eat but I eat very healthy. If I moved more than I'd probably lose some of this fat. I want to be comfortable in my own skin and I want to be able to look in the mirror without wondering who is the ugly, fat person looking back at me. I also want to feel good enough about my looks to let my husband or kids take a picture of me. Being a bit more healthy wouldn't be so bad either.

I'm not entering the contest either. I'm not really sure if my fitness goals are in line with the Wii Fit. This is an awesome system. Since you have to be so active I would not mind one bit getting this for my son (of course I would use it time to time)

My fitness goals for 2009 are to start running, doing crunches and eating healthier. I hope to be able to run 4 x a week when all is said and done and do some powerwalking or something the other three days.

I'm entering because:
A. You're words are so convincing...and it's easier than starting to train for a marathon.
B. My current workout regimen consists of the hokey pokey, head, shoulders, knees, and toes, and the occasional "Lazy Town" episode.
C. I've tried a couple Zumba classes and love anything that makes me think I'm not really exercising.
Doulala said…
I read you daily (when you write daily) but I've been putting off entering because I never win these kinds of things.
All your reminders convinced me to change my mind.
My fitness goal for 09 is to get back into shape. After I had my twins in 03 I dropped 60 pounds and I have managed to keep most of it off. I keep losing and gaining that last 10 though.
Last year I got in a car accident the day before I was supposed to run a 10K (I bow down to you and your marathon training). I wasn't seriously injured but I had to stop my workouts (I hated giving up my boxing!). I think I've only run a few times since then (2 of them this past week). It's amazing how easy it is to put weight back on when you aren't moving your body.
I have decided to start all over and do the couch to 5K program again. I think not running (or really any kind of exercising) qualifies as "couch".
My gym membership expires in March and I'm starting nursing school next month. The Wii system would help me keep up with my fitness goals while I'm poor gym membership less student who just happens to also be a mother of 4.

Completely off topic, I'm considering going natural too. I've been relaxing my hair for 20 years. I'd love to show you some pictures and get some advice on how to transition.

I love that the word verification is "preflab"! ha ha

I would love to win a "Wii Fit" to uh, help my family get fit! I am way to embarrased to go to a yoga class (no balance) but I really want to try it. My son is asking for the Wii Fit for Christmas. And my husband loves to hula hoop : )
Wii has something for everyone!

Wii Fit is excercise in disguise!

I would love to win this! As a mother of a child with autism, I'm tired and worn out and out of shape. I need some way to get my stamina back up. I need to be there for my son and my husband and be healthy for a long time. I am 49, coming up on the big 50. I used to be in shape years ago, but lost it after my son's diagnosis and the years of sleep deprivation and eating poorly. I realized that no one will do this for me. I must be fit to help raise my family! Thanks for the opporunity and Merry Christmas!

Hi, Liz!

This is a fantastic contest, and I've been doubly inspired by reading all of the other entries - we should form a Los Angelista readers exercise group! Barring that, though, here are my fitness goals for 2009; I have one for myself and one for my dad:

1. Every year, on my birthday, my mom and I would backpack together into the High Sierras. (There's a meteor shower that peaks on my birthday, which makes it even more incredible.) We did this from the day I turned 12 until the day I turned 21; sadly, after that, institute and teaching kept us from going. I'm definitely not in backpacking shape right now, and I'm committed to regaining the cardio and muscle strength that I know are essential, which means weight-lifting in the gym twice a week and hiking in my local mountains every other day. A Wii fit, though, would help me work out different muscles that my gym and walking regimen wouldn't hit (plus it would be so much fun!).

2. My 61-year-old dad is horribly out of shape, overweight, and in poor health. He had both of his hips replaced when he was in his 40s; even though that cured his debilitating arthritis, he has become really inactive. He developed diabetes several years ago, and has high blood pressure. I have done everything I know to get him to the gym - I've cried, I've cajoled, I've yelled - but as much as he promises to change, he doesn't. I am terrified of losing my funny, smart, loving father, and I desperately want him to be healthy. I really think that, with the Wii, we could play together, and it would start him on a path towards health.

Thanks for considering me!

My health and fitness goals for 2009 include attending yoga regularly and maintaining my commitment to vegetarian South Beach eating. I also want to get my weight under 140 pounds and increase my upper body strength and overall stamina. The Wii Fit will help by adding an easy way to get some exercise in my crazy busy schedule, that's also fun! and like a game! And I believe that the progress tracking stuff would rock, too. :)

I have not lost my baby weight. Well, I did lose most of it when I was breastfeeding but when I stopped I continued eating the way I had when nursing. Obviously that is a no,no. Add my addiction to sweets to the mix and well let's just say I weigh as much as I did (or more) when I was pregnant.

I am embarrassed by the way I look, this is the heaviest I have been my whole life. I know that I need to stay healthy not only for me but for my child.

My goal is to start exercising on a regular basis again and changing to healthy eating habits. This combination will help me to lose the weight, incorporate exercise in my life and feel better all around.

Hi. Found you at the Wii Fit Moms Twitter party. I am on a mission to murder my fat pants this year! (http://fatpantsfuneral.wordpress.com). My goal is to be a size healthy and that means losing between 20-50 lbs. In order for me to exercise...it has to be fun and not seem like exercise...that is where a WiiFit would come in really handy for me!

OH I would love to win this giveaway. I awas diagnosed with pre-diabetes and have 60-70# to lose. I don't want to go into full diabetes so have taken some minor steps to get away from it but feel that if I win this it will give me the motivation I despirately need. I am a 40yo mom of 3 kids and a new grandbaby and don't want to miss out on all the fun still yet to come.

I also need this because in 1998 I had lower back surgery for a hurniated and ruptured disks. I have neglected my back for the last 10 years and am now paying for that lack of motivation.

I hope I will win this awesome give away.

The Wii Fit is one form of exercise that I CAN fit into my lifestyle, which is EXACTLY why I’m hoping and praying to win one. We have a daughter with special medical needs, which means we can’t just “get a babysitter” for me to get to a gym. We don’t have family close by who can watch her, and Hubby owns his own business, which means he works long hours and travels a lot. Not being able to get out of the house much = me being mega out-of-shape. Yikes. I have 40-50 pounds to lose and need to find something that I can and WILL do in my home. I’ve tried lots of videos, but they’re just not motivating. Exercise equipment is space-hogging and expensive.

I think I would actually use the Wii Fit because of how interactive it is. I love that it gives you feedback, and I think I will feel more like I’m playing than working. I also hope that my daughter could someday do some of the activities with me. I’m most interested in yoga and Rhythm Boxing, but the hoola hoop thing sounds fun too!

Thanks for the chance to enter! Here’s a blog post about my fitness goals:

My Health and Fitness Gols for 2009: To get fit, healthy, lose 25 pounds, and learn to love myself back to health. Some years ago, I was diagnosed with Lupus and although I am persistent in exercise, I am limited as far as what I can do -- walking and/or swimming. Neither of which is good for me during the winter. I am not near indoor tracks or swimming pools. So, I am looking for more creative and fun ways to exercise and getting fit. When I heard about the Wii Fit,and the possibilities it offered for exercising, I was so excited. This is what I have been wishing for since I was diagnosed! And, I love techy things, so the Wii is definitely something I would use and enjoy. I feel as though the Wii was made just for me! (It may even encourage my daughter to exercise and get fit along with me!). The Wii is awesome for those who are physically challenged, and with the Wii I can look forward to the new me!

I heard about this on Twitter. What an awesome giveaway and here I was thinking I was the only one without a Wii.

My fitness goals for 2009 is to resume motion again. I sit about 8 hrs. a day and have completely neglected my fitness. Even my doctor noticed and read me the riot act. However, he also said I could regain my fitness with 5 minutes of activity a day, and that don't seem right, right??? I'd rather hula hoop for 40 minutes.

I am currently involved in Operation Fatty over at my blog. Today in fact, I posted my full length picture so that people can see just how fat I am. I've been working hard lately to lose some weight and well, just get healthy.

I've cut out soda, more water, more healthy foods obviously. I'll be attending a lot of conferences and I want to look good, not cringing behind the scenes because I'm standing next to all the skinny girls.

I had the chance to play on the wii one time. It was so much fun...I've never had that much on game before. I just can't afford it....I've wanting since July of 07'...maybe this year will be my year!

Anyways, I appreciate the chance to win. Good luck to all in this contest and with your health goals!

I've made a real commitment to my health, I've been diligently working out for the past month, 5 days a week without fail. Last night in the final 10 minutes of my run the belt on our treadmill ripped to shreds.(it was pretty old) With 3 boys to raise, a gym membership is out of the question, and a new treadmill is just not something we could do right now. This Wii Fit would help me get back on track to being a healthier mommy. Thanks for the opportunity Liz, and good luck to all the participants.

Wow. I never considered getting into the wii fit craze until I read your post. No really lol. If its like you say it is (having your own personal trainer) then I'm in. My goal every year is to improve my health. I am diabetic and have high blood pressure. I am just on pills and each year work to get off the medication all together. Every year I've been able to reduce the meds and get my A1c number closer to normal. I'm almost there. So, 2009 fitness goal is to of course lose weight, and incorporate a daily workout so that I can control my diabetes without medication AND to lower my blood pressure naturally to eliminate that medication also. These medical conditions run in my family so I hope to break the cycle so that my two girls (16 and 8) can begin to remove themselves from that generational curse.

I also linked this post to my blog entry today.

Pick me! lol

Whether I win or not this is an awesome giveaway and I think I will do something similar on my blog.
My third baby is due mid-2009. So my goals are two fold. I always have high blood pressure issues in pregnancy, and gain a LOT of weight. This time I'm starting out overweight, so I'm really worried about my health/weight this go round. So goal #1 is to incorporate light exercise into this pregnancy to try and keep my blood pressure and weight gain in the normal limits.

Then my second goal is obviously to lose weight after the baby is born. I never lost it all after #2, because I get so bored with workout DVDs...can't afford a gym...and live in the southeast where it's too hot most of the year to go for a walk outdoors.

So I'd really love a Wii....I think it would help me in both my goals!!!

So this one's for those of us who are climatically challenged.

Well, my daughter was born seven months ago - and you know what comes along with that! Baby weight! At first it just seemed to come right off, but I think that's because I was too busy running around getting everything done to eat. Now that she's getting a little more independent I'm given more time to eat... and I live in an apartment where it's not that fun to walk. Plus the cold - excuses, excuses, lol. I'm starting to get depressed about myself and the way I look so I know it's time to do something! So my goal for 2009 is to get a Wii Fit and Wii and exercise 5 times a week, and to eat smaller portions at each meal! Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

I've heard so many good things about the Wii Fit and I think it would be right up my alley. It would help keep me accountable and have fun, too. My hubby would do it with me, and that would be fun, too! Thanks for the chance of the giveaway!

After having my first child 3 months ago I feel like my body needs a wake up call. With around-the-clock breastfeeding, an erratic sleep schedule, and only a few minutes to grab a bite to eat, I have almost no time to get to the gym. With the Wii Fit I can get in shape at home with my baby nearby. Jump starting my weight loss goals with some much needed physical activity will also motivate me to make healthier food choices. I think the Wii Fit would help me find the body I used to have! :-)

1. Shed 40 pounds, so that I don't hae a heart attack and leave my two daughters fatherless.

2. Shed said 40 pounds while working hours that prohibit going to the gym.

3. Shed said pounds without running or doing anything that might re-injure my surgically repaired knee.

4. Shed said weight with yoga and other exercise form that won't injure my broken-down, middle-aged self.

Go back to number one and repeat!

Hello, I came across your blog by reading another blog that had you on your roll. I'm entering the contest.
My goal is to lose 90 pounds. I have struggled with weight my whole life and my deafness. I don't have control over one but I do with the other. In 2009 its my goal to conquer this stronghold cause I know I can be so much more. Wii plays a part in this tremendously by having something to motivate me to get up and do something every day. It will help me track my progress. It will help be something I know I can be. Thanks for taking the time to read this

Hi Liz-
I've been reading your blog for quite a few months now but I've never left you a comment. I enjoy reading about your life & times in Los Angeles.

I recently completed my first half-marathon in West Palm Beach and had such a wonderful, fun time doing it that I've decided to do a few more until I work my way up to a full marathon. I have never been much of a runner and went from 0 to 13.1 in 18 weeks. So my goals for 2009 include training for and completing the Miami ING half in January 2009 and the inaugural Rock 'N' Roll Seattle half in June 2009. By December 2009, I want to run my first full and I think I'll do it where it all started for me - The Marathon of the Palm Beaches.

Thanks for having such a wonderful blog and for encouraging your readers to embark on the road to fitness in 2009.

Hi Liz! What a wonderful give-away! My current fitness goals are to build on the strength training I've done the last two years while adding in more cardio work. I walk in my neighborhood for my cardio, but the climate and weather doesn't always cooperate! Slippery snow in the winter and temps in the mid 90's in the summer make it tough. A Wii fit would give me more options, but wouldn't take up all the room of a treadmill. Plus my 10-year-old would be pretty jazzed about the Wii as well, let's face it!
Thanks bunches!

My goal for 2009 is get back into the routine of going to the gym 5 days a week (something I did easily earlier this year but have fallen short recently) and to get back to the weight I was in 2007 before my 40th birthday.

The thing that intrigues me most about the Wii Fit is the balance exercises. When I had some physical therapy in recent years, part of my therapy was using a balance board and oh my goodness, did I feel so uncoordinated. I don't think I ever got the hang of it.

It's so nice of you to have this give away.

I currently work out 3x per week and eat healthy. I'm currently 100 lbs overweight. Having a Wii would really help.

How did I miss this contest?! Anyways, my brother and I have had every Nintendo system except the Wii! I've always been a believer that the things that I loved as a child will help me stay fit as an adult. Well my bike has a flat, and there's no oceans to swim in, so that just leaves Nintendo. I never thought that itd be possible to get in shape with video games but now I see that that's true and I love it. I'm pretty sure I'll be Wii yoga-ing this pooch away if I win!

My name is Laura and I'm a vibrant and fun person with a lot of sparkle and shine, but am dulled down by an extra 105 pounds. I'm 5'1 and weigh 225.

I began a diet and working out in the early fall and have lost 21 pounds, but am feeling a little discouraged because due to our extra cold Wisconsin weather, I've had to move my workouts indoors.

DVD's make for good but kind of boring workouts and I'd love a Wii Fit because it would certainly inspire me to compete against myself! I love challenges! I like the idea that it also helps you track your goals.

I can promise you this...this is one gift that will not be abandoned after a month or two. I'm already determined to lose weight, improve my fitness level and bring a little more of my light to the outside...I just need the extra fun way to do it!! I'm crossing my fingers!!!! I turn 40 next month and would love to move into the year of "lightening up" with a Wii!

i would love love love to get the wii fit... i tried it at a friend's house and loved how it showed you how to do the poses and then told you if you were doing it right, and it wouldn't let you "progress" until you'd gotten better at it! so awesome!
i'm a mama to a two-year old with a baby in my belly, so the only possible "me" exercise times are when baby #1 is sleeping... so having this at home would be incredibly wonderful... i would love for this coming year to be different than others, to at least have a way to exercise, relax and feel good! yay for wii!

Hi Lizzie!!
Just wanted to be included i this grat contest. I have 7 children and trust me if theres anyone who has post-preganancy weight its got to be me!!! I have done all kinds of diets but haven't found one that has been successful or exciting. I've heard great things about the wii fit and have wanted it for a while but just simple can't afford it. I know my kids would get a kick out of it, since I would have them work out too!!
My goals for 09 are simple. Keep a healthy balanced meal plan that inlude lotsof fruits and veggies and drink a gallon of water a day. I'd exercise everday for at least 40 minutes and walk 1 mile, 3x a week. I recently tooka hard look in the mirror and decided its time to do something. I wasn't always overweight, but somehow over the past decade I became one.
I hope you consider this family of 9, because honestly it wouldn't be just 1 winner but 9 who would greatly benefit. Thanks so much for doing this!!!

Liz,

I don't think I could beat you in action or enthusiasm, but I'd LOVE a Wii and WiiFit.

I'm a mother to young toddler twins, so between work and the boys, I don't have time to go to a gym.

I just recently had surgery, and gained some weight, so me and my husband's big goals this year are to lose between 30-50 pounds, and from what everyone says, the Wii Fit is amazing.

My 2009 health and fitness goals jump-started in November after I completed my (miserable) second 1/2 marathon. I was so disappointed with my performance (and the extra 15-20 lb load I dragged for the entire 13.1 miles), that I signed up for Weight Watchers. Already nearly 10 lbs down!!

My goals for 2009 are to continue on WW, and also begin incorporating activity other than running. All I do is run - albeit about 5 days a week, which is plenty - but my body is bored and needs something new to shake the last of the fat off. The Wii Fit would be perfect to engage new muscles...been wanting to try to yoga I hear so much about.

Thank you and the folks from Nintendo for this chance! I have been married for a year and a half and let me tell you I KNEW exactly what I weighed before I got married. Had to fit in that dress you know. :) I had always had a pretty active lifestyle and as a cocktail server in a casino I racked in about 3 to 5 miles on my pedometer while at work. Then I got married to the greatest guy in the world and now find myself working in a much more sedentary job. Girl...my weight went BLAM! Just yesterday I saw my doctor with questions about why I had such a dramatic weight gain in such a relatively short amount of time...a few blood tests later...it is my thyroid combined with the less than stellar workout I get at work.

My fitness and health goals involve:
Number one...get my thyroid in line with my new meds
Two...considering that my thyroid is causing my metabolism to slow...I have to do something about it regarding the food I eat so I am going a little heavier on the veggies than I did before.
Three...obviously involves more exercise. I would love to win the Wii for an additional help so I can drag my husband and son along with me. :)

My goal is to get me back to where I started when I got married by this time next year. I figure a year should be more than reasonable to get myself back to 128 if I do my part and my doctor gets my thyroid to do the same. :)

Thank you again for the chance to win a Wii Fit!

I'm starting with a smaller goal than what I truly want, so I've decided I want to lose 20 lbs next year. I've already almost completely cut sodas out of my diet and that took about 6 lbs off. I've changed my schedule around so now I get up at 9 and in another week I'll start exercising every morning then, but there's no motivation to do angry crunches or pushups....I've always been more motivated with a game involved and there are SO many different things I want to try out on the Wii Fit! I know I'd so quickly be set on a good routine of actually waking up and doing my workout for the day!

I'm due in April, with our third baby. Unfortunately, I didn't lose the weight from the second one before I got pregnant with this one!

I am VERY overweight. Last doctor's visit, I stepped on the scale and about passed out. I don't even own one anymore, so seeing it in large digital numbers is frightening.

I have a fit husband, and two very active kids. If the one inside is any indication, it's going to be pretty busy, too! I don't want to miss out on family outings and fun because I don't have the energy or stamina to keep up with the rest of them.

I want to lose enough fat (not terribly concerned with the number of pounds) to fit into the closet-full of clothes I haven't been able to wear since before having the second baby. I especially don't want to weight more than my husband!!! Talk about discouraging.

I really think having a fun way of working out will help. My in-laws' friends have a Wii, and my in-laws borrowed it for a while after my father-in-law shattered his heel last Thanksgiving. He was in a wheelchair until the following Spring. We all played on the Wii. Not only did we get a workout (it got pretty competitive!), but it brought us all together. The whole family was laughing and getting into it.

I would love a Wii fit. I wanted one for Christmas, but it's just not in the budget, especially with a baby on the way. I really think it would give me a fun way to work off this weight.

My goals are to work out four to five days a week, to get back into pre-second-baby clothes, to feel better, to have more energy, and to weigh less than Hubs.

Oh yeah, I'm regretting my holiday (over)eating! My parents have a Wii and Wii Fit and it makes it fun to exercise as well as easy to track progress. I'd like to use this 3-5 days/week in addition to 2 mile walks on the treadmill (4 times/week).

I've had health issues for much of the year and I'm hoping for a healthy 2009!

I'd love to win a Wii Fit because I cancelled my gym membership last year (the latest victim in this bad economy and my efforts to save money). I had to stop running 6 months ago due to planar fascitis and I neeeeeeed motivation to keep up my exercise routine at home. Every little bit helps!

My fitness goal for the new year is to lose the extra 20 lbs. I have been carrying since my last pregnancy four years ago. The Wii Fit would help motivate me to exercise more and make it so much easier since it is hard to exercise a lot in this freezing cold weather with two little boys at my heels.

Health and fitness goal for 2009: Run a marathon.

How will the WiiFit help? It'll give me yet another way to work out that's different. The same ol, same ol exercises and workout methods get old old old. Yet another option to workout will help. Alot.

I've wanted a WiiFit since they came out! I would like to lose 20 pounds and get in shape! I've heard the Wii's are excellent for exercise instead of the typical video game where you just sit and push buttons. I hope I win!

My fitness goal for 2009 is to get into shape. Not necessarily lose weight--I'm a good healthy weight, but to tone up and work on my stomach area a lot. I hear that Wii fit is a wonderful way to get into shape and as a gamer girl already I'll definately be competing to beat out my fitness score each week!
Last weekend, after trying on 2 pairs of my pants, I was depressed. One was super snug (definitely not fit for work) and the other one, well the waistband didn't even come close to meeting.

So, I definitely need to work out. I'm with you. I want someone to tell me that my form is off. Since I don't have the funds for a personal trainer or the gym, the Wii Fit would be perfect. And since I'm not confident in my athletic ability, I won't feel like an idiot while I try to hula hoop if it's in my own home.

I haven't quite made my goals for 2009 yet, but I think it will involved doing some yoga after the little one goes to bed instead of sitting on the couch watching tv.

My fitness goal for the new year is to be healthy. I have lost 50lbs so far, and I am looking to lose 50 more in '09.

I have 3 little ones (ages 3, 18 months and 3 months), and I plan on being here for them, for a very loooong time. They are my inspiration. I need to be a healthy Mama for my babies.

I struggled with wt my whole life, and I don't want that for my kiddos. I want to be a good healthy example for them.

It is very costly both in money and time to go to a gym so I have been taping exercise programs on tv to do at nights. The kiddos like to exercise with Mama, lol. I think the WiiFit would be a great way to exercise at home with the kiddos "helping".

WOW! I've heard so many great things about the Wii Fit! I'm embarrassed to go into the ugly details as to how out of shape I really am, but I think the Wii would help because I could do the fitness program at home! Crossing my fingers!!

Wow! This is huge! Someone will be very lucky!
My fitness goal in the new year is to develop a fitness routine. I just turned 33 on Christmas and I am realizing that I am not getting younger. The Wii sounds be fun and being in my home I think I could dig it. My kids would probably love to get in there with me which would be great! Thanks for the chance!

Well, you know how they recommend moderate exercise five days a week? I can never squeeze 5 times in seven days, so this is my goal for 2009 (and lose the flab, if course). A WII would be perfect for this!

Liz, I didn't realize I needed something like this until 2 weeks ago...when I found out that I'm pregnant with my 3rd child! I have been killing myself in the gym the past several months getting back in shape and have seen great results, but I know that it is all about to fall to the wayside as the pregnancy progresses. I've spent the past two weeks constantly nauseous and sleeping about 15 hours a day. I know that it's just a matter of time before my body starts going back in the opposite direction, and the thought of this terrifies me. I have spent a little time in the past on a good friend's Wii Fit and I became obsessed! If I win the Wii and Wii Fit, I know that I will be motivated to crawl out of bed and jump to it as needed. I really have a strong desire to stay fit during my pregnancy. I'm 34 years old, already have 2 kids, and know that it'll be virtually impossible otherwise.

Thanks for the chance, Liz!! This is truly awesome.

Liz, thank you for the chance to win! I could really use this because I recently had back surgery and I can't do PT because I can't get out to go there, so this could really help me be more active and possibly lose weight as well. Mainly, I have to gain more flexibility and stretching, so I'm sure this would be the answer to my prayers!

I had a baby in January and while I am to my pre-baby weight, I am not at the weight I should be at. I would love to be much healthier when I get pregnant with number 2. But its impossible to get out of the house with a crazy one year old, so with the wii fit I could work out from the comfort of my home.

I need to get back into half-marathon shape (you're braver than I am; I haven't worked up the nerve to run a longer distance than I can walk yet). Some Wii-Fit training would be a cool way to cross-train. The wife and kids would love it too.

First of all thanks for sharing! I have decided its time to change my life, starting with my weight. Although many people I know would never think I had a weight problem, I gained 45 pounds in the last 5 years and have gone through some depression. Its time for it to change...and I've wanted a Wii fit since I saw it come out. I also would like to have my own personal trainer...in my livingroom. I'm motivated and determined 2009 is the year to get FIT! This machine would help with the areas I'm not good at....keeping records. And being able to keep track of my accomplishments would be a great motivator :-)

Hey Liz! My goal is to make sure that running a marathon isn't an anomaly--I want to be one of those people who works on fitness all the time (instead of for 16 week chunks of time :).

#2 My birthday is coming up (1/23), and I need to look fllyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
#3 I want to LOVE to work out, and with this Wii fit, I am sure to enjoy the exercise!!
Thanks, Liz!! :)

I was overweight when I got pregnant with my daughter, and, though I'm back back to my pre-pregnancy weight, that's not saying much. And the tummy flab. Ugh. I started to yoga when I was pregnant, but now I don't have the money to keep going to classes, or the time, and I need something other than a video, something to make it fun. I also have exercise-induced asthma, so running, etc. is hard for me. I would so love to have a wii fit. The best thing is my hubby could use it, too and we could get in shape together, and, as my little girl gets older, she can grow up in an environment with healthy parents.

I'm coming in under the wire! Three people I know have recently had sore muscles from working out to their wii! I definitely need to do something in the new year. My new years regiment is to do something at least three times a week whether that's swim, dance class or wii!!
This is a great opportunity :)

Allah'u'Abha! Liz you’re such an inspiration - from your periodic sharing of your marathon preparation progress, to your sharing’s about motherhood, hair issues, living in LA and other stuff - I look forward to reading your blog as well as your Facebook status comments. On one occasion you were kind enough to share the detailed instructions of your former straw set process with me; thanks again

I could use the Wii and Wii fit for several reasons. This has been quite a year for me; I turned 50 and I gained an additional 30 pounds. I'm currently considered morbidly obese. I've gone as far as looking into the gastric bypass - but, I know I can loose the weight by setting up a system and schedule that will accommodate my life. I believe having the system at home will help tremendously. I plan to rejoin Weight Watchers; I've been successful with them, however, getting to the gym regularly has been near impossible, due to my tight schedule after returning to school this year to FINALLY finish my college degree. I've also recently become a foster parent; and my little girl is making the final transition into my home on New Year's Eve. She's 6 years old and I need and want to get into shape to keep up with her. I'm a single (moderately attractive ) woman who'd love to get fit for my health and vanity as well as hopes to perhaps catch the attention of a handsome servant of God who I can share my life with. I've said a lot; and I'm sure there are many, many deserving folks. The Wii will also be used and appreciated by my six and a half year old foster/soon to be adopted daughter Brittney; it'll be something we can also do together. My bottom line is that I'm weathering the effects of reaching a significant milestone while striving to "catch up" on my life due to side tracking my goals in the past when I didn't value myself; I would love to end this coming year feeling healthier, looking healthier both physically and emotionally. Please consider this sister Baha'i "mixed chick" in Connecticut.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.

My current health really sucks. I'm a college student struggling to get back to my once healthy weight, but money is tight and exercising has been minimal. In 2009, and my new school schedule, I plan on working out at least 1 hr a day and the Wii Fit can definitely be something that contributes to that hour of exercise.

Pick us! luv Christina

First, wow! Nintendo should put you on the payroll for branding the product with such a great personal story on how the Wii Fit has motivated you. It sounds awesome! Second, thanks goes to you for putting together this wonderful contest. If nothing else, with this post you have created a mini-community to verbalize our health and fitness goals for 2009.

Okay as for my fitness and health goals…more like the mission I have planned for 2009 is titled “Operation the Total Package” ☺ As you know, I’m in graduate school and this is my last year. (Praise God!) This is also the year that I re-enter the job market, so it is time to put it all together (finish my dissertation and get fit!) so that I can be and feel my best.

My ultimate weight-loss goal is a whopping 48 lbs. That’s what I need to lose according to height and weight charts. However, “Operation the Total Package” is going to be about healthy eating and fun fitness activities. I am not going to rely on the scale alone. I am concentrating more on reaching my ideal pant/dress size and feeling good from the inside/out. My plan is to combine regular aerobic exercise (4-5 times a week) along with strength training. I also don’t live far from a terrific lake in Seattle, and a group of friends and I have already talked about reviving our walking/jogging club in ’09.

I’ve always been athletic and even played college basketball, so I enjoy sweating and being active. I think my earlier activities have saved me from looking absolutely crazy to others. I guess I carry my weight well to the outside world, but it’s not a good feeling to be uncomfortable in your own clothes. My struggle now is finding a routine that will work with my dissertation writing and work schedule. Your testimonial about the Wii Fit could not have come at a better time! The opportunity to make the Wii Fit my primary fitness tool will allow me to workout at home as a mental break or after one of my long, scheduled dissertation writing sessions. Also, having someone like “Orlando” ☺ (okay, I’ll name mine Joaquin – Orlando’s cousin) will give me the feeling of having a workout partner to motivate me through what is already a somewhat isolating venture – writing.

Liz this was a great post. Again, if nothing else it helped me to verbalize how excited I am to make Jan – June an amazing 6-month start to Operation the Total Package! 2009 is sure to be a great year and I wish you continued success on your journey, as well.

Hey there Liz- I'm impressed with all the folks on here looking at the Wii to really kickstart their fitness regimes. Working out is a pretty big part of my life already so I commend anyone who wants to make it a part of theirs. By that same token I'd be down to scoop Wii Fit for myself so I'm throwing my hat in the ring.

My fitness goal for 09 is to really push myself to the next level. Not just be in shape but be in stop you in your tracks shape. This is going to take everyday commitment to exercise and I think the Wii Fit would be the perfect tool for those days when I'm having a hard time sticking to the program. These hips move with amazing speed so I'll always be in the mood for some hula hoop action!
