We Have A Wii & Wii Fit Winner!
When I first began my Wii and Wii Fit giveaway contest back on the 1st of December, I asked entrants to share their health and fitness goals for 2009.
I'm not sure what I expected, but really, I had no idea how inspiring and heart-felt so many of the entries would be. One thing is clear, there are a whole lot of us that want to be healthier and fitter. And not just because we're trying to live up to some airbrushed, Photoshopped image on the cover of a magazine either.
Go ahead and take a moment to read through the entries. Absolutely no one said, "My goal is to look like Jennifer Aniston on the cover of the January issue of GQ."
Instead, you talked about wanting to win the Wii Fit for family members who need help getting healthier. You talked about wanting to combat diabetes and other chronic health problems. So many of you shared how the economic downturn is making gym memberships beyond your budget. And so many of my fellow moms detailed their struggles with the post-pregnancy pounds that continue to hover around like the house guest you just can't seem to get rid of.
So here's what I did to choose a winner: I listed out all the names of eligible entrants on a piece of paper. I put them down in the order that folks posted in the comments. If you let me know you blogged about the contest somewhere else, you got two separate entries, and if you let me know this a few days after you entered, your entries weren't necessarily next to each other in my list. Then I numbered each entry and went to this site, plugged in the appropriate info, pressed "Randomize Now" and up came #83.
I then went back to my list and saw that #83 is none other than....

Michele at The Integrated Mother! I wish I had some blogosphere confetti to throw around! Here was her entry:
Speaking of, I have to say a huge THANK YOU to Nintendo for enabling me to give something away to you all on my birthday.
AND, thank you to each of you that entered. I wholeheartedly wish that I had a Wii Fit to give away to each and every one of you. I hope that regardless, you'll find a way to achieve your goals. Just naming them and putting them down on paper is a step so many people never ever get to. You've named what it is you want to achieve so keep that commitment to yourself.
We all know that the only one that can schedule in time to work out, who can make the healthy eating choices, who can tell the saboteurs in our lives to shove it... the only one who can do it is you!
And now I'm going to go back to my birthday revelries. Hope you all enjoy your night!

Michele at The Integrated Mother! I wish I had some blogosphere confetti to throw around! Here was her entry:
"My 2009 health and fitness goals jump-started in November after I completed my (miserable) second 1/2 marathon. I was so disappointed with my performance (and the extra 15-20 lb load I dragged for the entire 13.1 miles), that I signed up for Weight Watchers. Already nearly 10 lbs down!!I totally feel her! As someone who's gonna be running 24 miles on Saturday (EEK!) as part of my marathon training, I 100% hear what she's saying. Every pound slows your pace down and makes it that much harder to get across the finish line. Seriously, congratulations, Michele! I'm so happy for you and I hope you're better at the hula hooping than I am! Please email me all your contact info so I can pass it on to the generous folks at Nintendo!
My goals for 2009 are to continue on WW, and also begin incorporating activity other than running. All I do is run - albeit about 5 days a week, which is plenty - but my body is bored and needs something new to shake the last of the fat off. The Wii Fit would be perfect to engage new muscles...been wanting to try to yoga I hear so much about."
