A Los Angelista Giveaway: Honor Your Mom, Win Goodies from Olay
It's only a week till Mother's Day and the
commercials about what gift you're going to get your mom--flowers, diamonds, A
NEW CAR--are everywhere. While there are plenty of presents I'd love to give my
mom, I can't help but think of the many things she's given me.
Indeed, it's tough to pinpoint how my mom has most inspired me, but one thing I've learned from her is that I should always try to be better, learn something new, and apply that knowledge to improve myself and the world around me. She taught me to read and love all kinds of literature--every time I pick up a book I'm reminded of what a wonderful gift that is that she's given me.
And, as you can see from this picture of the two of us—which is one of my favorites—on top of being an inspiration, my mom also has loads of physical beauty, too. To me she’s the epitome of Olay’s “Beauty by Example” campaign, which lets people publicly acknowledge the ways their moms are beautiful and inspiring—both inside and out.
If you want to participate, you can head over to the Olay Facebook page, sign an online declaration and share with the world why your mom is a “Beauty by Example”. The great thing is that with every signature, Olay's parent company Proctor & Gamble will donate one ounce of Olay product, up to one million ounces, to a nonprofit called Look Good Feel Better, which works to improve the self-esteem and quality of life of women undergoing treatment for cancer.
I have several friends whose moms have battled various forms of cancer--or who are moms themselves and have battled cancer. I feel so thankful that my own mom hasn't had to deal with that kind of health issue, and it's nice to know organizations like this help women out who have had to deal with it.
Want an idea what kinds of products P&G will be donating? You can enter to win an awesome surprise box of fabulous beauty products that you can either keep for yourself or share with another mom in your life.
Mandatory Entry: Leave a comment and a valid email on this post by 11:59 PM PST on Monday, May 7, 2012 telling me how your mom has inspired you.
