Depressed? Blame Someone Else!
Talking to someone who's depressed can have different consequences:
1) I feel better about my life because at least I don't have it THAT bad.
2) I start to feel worse about my life because...darn it, I DO have it THAT bad.
3) I start to feel worse because all the depressing details are making me feel sad. (although some would say I am merely choosing to be sad.)
4) I start to feel worse because I'm getting annoyed that the person I'm talking to is wallowing in self-pity.
5) I start to feel worse because I'm looking in a mirror and the person I'm talking to is me! (Just kidding on this one, I think!)
